Hello everybody, I've got a problem (this is my first post so I'll say hello smile.gif )

I've got a Sony MZ-R501 MiniDisc. Today, I thought, let's record a cd. so I put in a (legal) disc in my stereo, and an empty minidisc in my player, adapter in it, and that other cable (with the red light in it). Then I left my room and thought I'd come back later when it's almost finished recording.

when I came back, (I didn't really pay attention to the md display first) I looked at the display of my MD, and I saw '254', as if the cd had 254 tracks! So I listened, and I saw that every 3, or even every 1 seconds, he jumped to the next track.

So I deleted it all the data off the disc. But wait, I decided to take an other disc, and an other cd to record. And also I stayed with the recording. And under the recording it again jumped in 3 seconds to the next track/mark, and sometimes 'NoSignal' appeared on the display. So I thought it could be the cable thingy or the adapter, and I blew in all the holes to make sure no dust or anything was in it. I tried it again, and again, but still the same result!

What should I do???

Thanks in advance

Sounds like your CD is protected in some way. The 254 track marks usually happen when you try to digitally copy an SCMS protected CD or MD. So maybe you've got one of these copy protected CD's? You could always copy it in analogue of course, or try the black marker trick.

Well I went back to the shop where I bought it, and let them repair it...

And yes I tried other CD's, I know that when there is a silent part and the music begins again it also marks another track, but that wasn't the problem, because like I said I tried different CD's.

And what is Sync Rec?

And what is the 'black marker' trick?
