Guest Anonymous
Hi all I have just got into Mini Disks (a bit late I know!) I recently bought an aiwa am-f5 recorder and a panasonic player for less than £40 the pair. Thing is I have tons and tons of mp3's on my pc which I want to record onto MD. At present I am using MusicMatch to record directly onto the recorder in realtime through an analogue lead (I don't have optical out on my sound card). It is a bit of a pain as I can't do much on the PC whilst recording. My questions are.... What is the best step to record from MP3? Can I transfer the track info over from PC to the recorder? Is it better for me to just buy a sound card with optical out...will this stop other sounds from the PC being heard when I record? Or, if I need to buy a new hifi (which I do!!) which is the best to get for my needs (and not too expensive). I live in the UK. If there is a link or if someone could help I would be very grateful Thanks
Mystyler
The **BEST** way to get your MP3s to MD is to spring for a Sony N505 NetMD recorder - it can convert your MP3s to ATRAC and then download them at up to 32x speed via USB. If not, and if your sound card is half decent, stick to analogue and have a cup of tea, cook some scones and read the paper while you wait. And, no, if you hear windows sounds via analogue, you'll hear 'em via digital too.
Guest Anonymous
thanks for that! In the meantime I bought a xitel DG2 had anyone got one of these? I can't seem to get the track names over from pc to md - the tracks record perfectly.
me
Track names will not be transferred, unfortunately, and you will have to enter them manually...
Christopher
I know it may seem a chore to manually enter your song names, but I promise it's not as hard as you think. It's slow at first, but you'll pick it up. Anyone else here able to manually title tracks really fast? I can do a full album in about five minutes or less, depending on how much text. k
Ziggy
After a while, you get to know where the buttons of your unit are located. I find that titling the songs by hand is not as bad as people think.
BJ
I got so used to my Sharp '702 that I could almost take a nap and let my hands title the disc for me. If you don't mind another step, I always used to burn my MP3s to a CD-RW, then record 'em to MD digitally on my stereo. It works nicely if you don't have a NetMD, but I'm happy I bought an N505. The quick transfer and the ability to title on my computer keyboard are worth it for me.

Sugo
There is a 3 checkout limit, but you can get around it by re-importing the same mp3 file. This works for both OpenMG and SonicStage. Or you can use Nero + Simple Burner method which does not have any check in/check out at all.
