Hi,

i bet you get 10 million of these, "look heres what i want, what do i get?" kind of messages, but i'm new to all this and by necessity alone (not enough people in my area recording my TOOL shows!, can't have this musical mastery lost into the abyss of time) have been dropped into this hobby.

So here is what i need:

1. great recording sound quality

2. steathyness of the deck itself , gonna need to sneak it in. (Don't want the security guard saying "Is that a square in your pants or are you happy to see me") . Small on the width , a good history of sneakyness would be great!

3. Ease of use in dark dark situations.

4. on the fly level changing ability

5. anything else you can throw in thats a plus.

Ok i have access to the following MD recorders: Do any of them meet my needs?

Sony Mz-r37

Sony Mz-r70

sony mz-r55

Sharp Md-Mt-20

sharp md-ms722

again, they have to get into the concert first, so a tank of a MD would not help me.

Thanks alot for any info.

You'll find many people here with alot more specific info than me but perhaps I can steer you in the right direction. First, spend some time and search through the previous posts in here. Second, use the comparison tables/features to help look at size, battery life... In general, the sharp's tend to have an advantage due to the ability to change levels on the fly. Loud shows can be tricky and there's usually a learning curve. Issues related to brickwalling, (especially with the sonys) and the use of battery modules become important. Good luck.
