Guest Anonymous
I've got a Shure Beta 98 wireless rig. Can I run the line out of my base unit into an MD? I've got a 1/4 in line out on the base unit, can I just use a 1/8-1/4 adapter, or are there impedance issues I need to be aware of? I don't have an MD yet, I am at this point gathering information. I'd like to record my own practice sessions (I play trumpet) as well as gigs off the soundboard using a headphone out. I'd also like to be able to do the mp3 thing too (ie. listen in the car, running, working out etc.). If you've got any suggestions as to what MD unit may work well for me, as well as any microphone suggestions (if my mic won't work with the md) I'd love to hear them as well. Thank you
Guest Anonymous
If the wireless mic have a line out u have to record to the LINE IN from your MD. If u connect it to the MIC IN you will have a very small signal level. So it´ll end it up in a lot of noise if u try to normalize that signal in your computer... So get an MD with line IN. The adapters may introduce noise but has nothing to do with impedance. The best way to record is to have a mixer and use the lin out to the MD. Your wireless base is acting like a mixer (but check if the out is really a line out...) Mics... there are a lot, u have to choose the right for your trompet, and the way u want to record it. (mic technics). I know a shure 57 is a workhorse mic u can record almost everything, but for sure there is one specific for trompets. good luck
Guest Anonymous
Thanks for the info. I already have the Beta 98, I use it for live work. I just wondered if I should get a new mic to use with this rig. I do have a small mixer I can use, I've been toying with the idea of actually running the mic into my in-ear monitor system and out the headphone out jack on the in-ear transmitter into the line in on the MD. I've already ordered an N1, I believe that has both the line in and the mic in, so I should be ok.
