sharp mic level balance

Hi

I just bought a Sharp MT877, I've got it cheap, because it's an old

model, and I use it mainly for recording practice sessions with my band.

I've noticed that theres a little different in the level between the

right and left channel (about 1,5 db or so using Cubase level meters).

I tested the mic input with a mono line signal, and the difference were

still there, so it can't be the mics. The balance is perfect with the

line/optical input.

Is this acceptable ?-Or should I bring the MD back to the shop.

The recordings are in a very good quality, the stereo image just has a

little to much "left". I must admit I first got aware of the problem

when I saw the levels on my computer.

Is this a common problem with MDs ?

Thanks

Sounds odd. I've used my Sharp 722 for years, and never found a balance problem.

I'd suggest it might be a prob with your soundcard, although you say that recording digitally into your MD is ok, so I guess it can't be your computer...

I guess it's a problem going analog into your MD. I assume that the audio you put into it is balanced in the first place?

The best thing to do is try it with other people's MD units, then you'll know if yours is faulty.

By the way, I use Cubase 5 myself, although loading in audio I use Wavelab. (The HD doesn't jump that way!)

Other than that. that's all I can say!

Chris.
