sharp mic level balance

Hi

I just bought a Sharp MT877, I've got it cheap, because it's an old

model, and I use it mainly for recording practice sessions with my band.

I've noticed that theres a little different in the level between the

right and left channel (about 1,5 db or so using Cubase level meters).

I tested the mic input with a mono line signal, and the difference were

still there, so it can't be the mics. The balance is perfect with the

line/optical input.

Is this acceptable ?-Or should I bring the MD back to the shop.

The recordings are in a very good quality, the stereo image just has a

little to much "left". I must admit I first got aware of the problem

when I saw the levels on my computer.

Is this a common problem with MDs ?

Thanks
