MT877 - Can't Edit when combining

Howdy.

This is a first for me with my Sharp MD MT877 on a disk recorded at a live show last night. During the process of recording, the player managed to create it's own tracks in spite of the fact that marking is off.

In the middle of a song, the player marked a track, and now I am completely unable to combine the tracks together, and get the message "Can't Edit" The only suggestion the manual has is to "change the stop position of the track and then edit it"

This doesn't make a ton of sense to me, unless its suggesting I move the tracks instead? At the moment, the disk is down to 3 tracks, the band's first set, and then the second set broken into the two tracks.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks,

Jason
