Guest Anonymous
For high fidelity location recording I've used a Nagra 4.3 and sony D5 cassette. These machines are pigs to lug around; somebody told me to get with the times and switch to MD. I don't care about net-md features. The mics are AKG and Sennheiser condenser mics with separate phantom supply. Don't care to spend the $$ for a portable DAT which have their own set of problems anyway. Would the md190 be a choice for field recording? I don't care as long as it's rugged and has a vu meter or some kind of level meter.
Nikola
I'm not a specialist, but if you insist on quality rec, is the VU not essential? I mean, for regulating the rec level or so? Myself, I think I will order a DR470. Many people around recommend it as an excellent machine for live recs. Some say good things about the MT190 too
