Guest Anonymous
What's the best encoder?
Guest Anonymous
For ATRAC there is only one series; the one made by Sony. For MP3, the best encoder is Lame 3.90.3 or Lame 3.93 (there are differences between the two).
Guest Anonymous
Oh yeah... there are things like ASRAC made by other MD-manufacturing companies, but they're not really "better" than ATRAC. They're just slightly different.
Guest Anonymous
haah, what in the hell? sony does not make the only atrac. it makes the only atrac3. panasonic and sharp both make variations on atrac. both claim 24 tech. panasonics is similar to sony atracR with higher sound quality in stereo. well, it is true. i used my sharp (admittedly they have not made an original atrac since 3 or 4 years ago) and the lp2 and stereo modes did not sound too far from eachother... but with the panasonic, the h.d.e.s. encoder was far superior to sharps stereo... and lp2 or h.d.e.s. was not an option... cheers panasonic
