Sharp mt15 recording problems

Hello guys,

My old sharp mt15 will no longer record properly. It will play just fine, but several discs do come up with the infamous UTOC error. When I try to record on a new disc, the playback while recording is fine, its getting the audio, but when recording stops and I play it, the sound cuts in and out, doesn't fully record, and is sometimes mechanical sounding. It's like the track is skipping...

Any ideas if this could be fixed?

many of us who have sharp decks are experiencing this problem. my old sharp md-r2 deck has recently started playing up with the UTOC ERROR display. i never record on this deck any more for fear of losing data. i've a relatively new sharp md-mt90 portable which i now use for all recording. the md-r2 deck is now used for playback only. sharp are not explaining why this is happening. i will not be buying any sharp audio products in future as a result of this farce. for fear of losing music i'd reccommend you get a new recorder (not sharp). a shame really. are there any others out there as irratated as i am? i'm so annoyed at this that all my important recordings will now be burned onto cd. :x :x :x

i had the mt-15 a few years back and had the same problem..apperently someone said it was a problem sharp didnt want to admit. i did find someone who could fix it but wasnt able to gurentee when the unit might break down again..could be a week..a month or a year if im lucky...he didnt know what was the exact problem and stuff..since then i stopped supporting sharp or any other player that used sharps..er..engine? is that the word?...regardless of if sharp DID fix the utoc error..any company that doesnt want to acknowledge they HAVE a problem in their units is a no-go for me
