Guest Anonymous
I just built the mic battey box combo on the MicDIYers page under the construction projects and every thing seems to be fine execpt when I record my self talking into it I have to turn the recording level all the way up just to hear my self. What am I doing wrong? Is this just the way that this particular type of mic works? I intend to use this to record concerts. I first tried using a regular stereo mic pluged into the mic input of my mz-n707 and every time the bass got loud the recording destorted way to much. is the battery box mic pluged into the line in going to give better results? Thanks, Dentaku
Guest Anonymous
You should try using the line input with your battery box instead of the mic input; that will give you a cleaner sounding recording, especially at loud concerts. You can barely hear your voice when using the mic input?!? If you were using the line input, that would make more sense. Can you record your voice at a decent level without the battery box? Guest Anonymous
you still plug into the mic input with the battery box. If you want to plug into the line input, you need a microphone _preamp_. They're different things.
Guest Anonymous
Actually, "Miker" is wrong. You can plug the battery box into the line input; this is definitely recommended for loud concerts. A preamp would be needed if you wish to record extremely quiet sounds, or if you have problems with the preamp currently in your minidisc. Guest Anonymous
Well, yes and no. The original poster said he couldn't hear himself talk. Guest is correct than you can record very loud sounds through the line input with a battery box. But its not a preamp, for low to medium loud sounds, go to the mic input or an external preamp.
