Guest Anonymous
they are sitting right in front of me...but before i open them i want to know: 1) Can i even make live recordings, even though the MD doesnt have a mic-in? would i need extra equipment, or will the two do just fine? 2) is the N505 a good model for want i want to use it for (transfering mp3's and cd's as well as live recording, practices, concerts, etc., or should i return it and get something else (in the same price range) 3) is the ECM-MS907 a good mic? all input, info, and opinions will be deeply appreciated
Guest Anonymous
i couldnt fight it....i opened them. i hooked up the ecm-ms907 mic to the line-in of the mz-n505 and did a shotgun live recording without reading the manual or anything (i'm not a "manual" person) i was VERY dissapointed with the audio level (it was very low). However, it was CLEAR as SPRING WATER....i would even say cd quality.... i wondered if there was a way to increase the recording level, so i hit the manual, and lo and behold, it could be done....so i raised it to the max (30) then recorded again, with better results, but still not to my liking... if i'm very close to the mic (speaking directly into it) the output level is decent, but if the mic is a few inches away the output level is loooww....so i can only imagine how this thing will sound in a live recording....(low) now...i hear people on here talk about a "battery box"....will this solve my problem? i called up my local radio shack, and they never even heard of such a thing...is this something that can be bought in a store? (i'm in NYC....so if anyone knows where i could buy it, by all means tell....)
Guest Anonymous
You need something to raise the inpput from the microphone to line level. A battery box will not do this, it will allow you to record very loud sounds through the line input, but for normal level recording, you're going to need a microphone pre-amp or an MD recorder with a microphone input. I have no experience with external preamps. I know sound professionsals www.soundprofessionals.com sells one or two.
