Guest Anonymous
Hey people, Look if anyone has any ideas of how to answer this question then it would sure be helpful to me and so to many other people, i am sure about that! This does not only concern NetMD but any other portable audio device etc... So, the question is as follows. -Suppose you buy a new player, with 56 hours battery life indicated on the box. Then you use it for about more than year...Will a new battery than you buy ( Duracel for example) still be able to perform the 56 hours??? In other words, does the player mechanism get old and use more battery life as time wears on??? You know, like cars that get old use more fuel than it's new model, just when you bought it! If anyone knows the answer, let me know! Thanks!!!
Andy
I'm fairly sure that the player itself won't degrade, thus you should still be able to get the same battery life as when you start. Two possible exceptions I can think of: - Lots of gunk building up on the motors would make it difficult for them to move thus it would use more battery - If the laser loses strength, then an MD *might* be smart enough to feed it more power (I don't know if this is true or not). In this case, more power would be used. Also, remember that the 56 hours on the box is 56 hours when done in a lab, at the correct temperature, at low volume, with the MD continuously playing (not having you playing different tracks) and even then, it might be the best out of a set of 10 tests. Still, you should get a very decent battery life, even 40 hours is nothing to be sneezed at
BJ
Also, I think the 56 hours refers to playing (under those lab conditions) at LP4--so if all you listen to are SP discs, you won't get the advertised battery life. I never kept track of the battery life on my 505--I just figure if I can go a week or more of normal use without recharging (which I can!) then I'm happy. Sad--it doesn't take much to make me happy.
