Harimogura
I am curious if anyone has had a similar problem with a NetMD unit and SonicStage software. This is kind of a long post, but it is a weird situation and takes a bit to explain. I have a Sony MZ-N10 which I bought in Japan. Because I have an English OS (Win98SE) I had to download and install the English Sonic Stage 1.5 to utilize the NetMD features. Hardware and software have worked fine overall with the exception of a few software crashes and, the reason I am writing, a really major software (suspected) problem rendering a recorded disc partial garbage and losing important recorded information. Using the mic in I had recorded interviews in four separate sessions, renaming the tracks after each session and putting them into 3 groups, all via Sonic Stage on my PC. The first three times I did this it worked fine but after the fourth I had big problems. When I put the disc into my MZ-N10 to start a new recording session I got a "TOC Error" message and the disc was empty as far as the unit was concerned. My friend's NetMD portable, an earlier Sony model, behaved exactly the same way. However, when inserted into a non-NetMD MD unit, portable or component type (tried it on 3 different units--none Sony), those units could read and play the tracks!! Actually, I should say that some tracks were readable and playable, since what had happened, courtesy of Sonic Stage I am sure, is that the several tracks had names that were combinations of the names of two originally separate tracks (some adjacent tracks and some non-adjacent), some tracks had new characters or blank spaces inserted into the original track names, some tracks had most of the original name erased; 6 or 7 of the original 45 tracks or so still appeared as tracks but would not play--the players briefly would briefly show the title of the track and then skip to and play the next good track. I have to think that this is a Sonic Stage 1.5 problem. The MZ-N10 continues to play and record just fine using SonicStage or mic in. Interested in hearing from any fellow-sufferers...
