Robert XR4x4
Hi, I have a Sony MZ-R900 (approx 2 years old) connected to a 10 year old technics CD player via the optical connector. Some times it records fine, but sometimes it seems to record fine, then at the end it jumps up to saying it has 254 tracks on the disc and when I play it the first track seems to be split up into 1 second chunks. It only seems to do this for CD's I have made up from mp3's, the CD plays fine in the technics cd player, and I can listen to it as it's recording, and I have recorded many other cd's made from mp3's without a problem. I have made sure the cd is closed in case that was the issue but it doesn't seem to make a difference :? I've checked through the FAQ's and can't see anything so any help would be great! The minidisc player is rarely used as I mainly record discs for the car. thanks in advance Robert
KJ_Palmer
That will be the copy protection (SCMS) that does this. You can get around that by recording (to MD) with an analogue cable, but you'll have to split into tracks manually.
Robert XR4x4
I thought that was only if you tried to copy minidisc to minidisc ..... any idea why it has worked before on other cd's that I have made from mp3's
KJ_Palmer
SCMS can apply to all digital media, including CDs. I think the MP3s must be copy protected and that gets transferred to your CD.
Robert XR4x4
I think I've sussed it. I converted the mp3's into wav format and used Nero to burn onto cd and then copied the cd onto mini disc (via optical cable) and that has worked cheers Robert
