Guest Anonymous
Does the Sony MZ-R501 model have sepcifically a LINE OUT function or is it just a headphone-jack? This is very important as i'm using it for the sole reason of recording my own music and uploading it onto a computer. Now that i try it i found out there are a lot of common issues regarding this with MD's in general. My problem is this; i can plug my headphone-out on the MDisc into mic-in on the computer BUT i only get a mono-streamed signal and not a stereo signal. What i NEED to know, 100% from experts and not just basic shop-assistant guesswork, is whether the sony minidisc model MZ-R501 has the LINE IN function or not. It is a fairly old model now, the manual dates as 2001, and it DOES NOT have a separate microphone input with it. (ie/ you can't plug an external mic into it) So, has anyone else tried to plug this particular MD model's headphone out into a computer's (or cd-player/stereo's) LINE IN? Other than that, does anyone know what programs i can use to test a computer's LINE IN socket? i have 2 computers, both with line in, and i'm not sure how i can send a signal through them or any programs that would play the LINE signal. Guest Anonymous
Sorry, this one isn't about MD's as such, but sound card/program buffs could help me out, and its related anyway  What freely available programs can play signals from the LINE IN on sound cards? (ie// can WinAmp play straight from LINE IN? and if the answer is: Yes, the next question is: How?) Because i desparately need a faultless method for testing LINE IN on a couple of sound cards (and i've NEVER used it before).
Mystyler
You get only mono because you plugged it into the PC's mic jack! If you plug it into the line-in jack you'll get stereo, regardless is your unit has line out or not. To the point, no it doesn't have line out. If you plug something into line in, you should hear sound from your speakers instantly - you don't need any special programs.
