Guest Anonymous
Is there any way to increase the output level of my 707 when connecting to my stereo. Would a product such as Recoton SP-2 phono preamp help boost the level? http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-P5X9f...a=0&cc=01&avf=N
Cheese
you need to do the mz-n707 hack - this will give you the line output option which (should) be louder, if this doesnt produce good results, use your pc's soundcard (minidisc to line in, line out of soundcard to hifi, set vol on minidisc to full, all volumes on pc to full and this is louder, or connect to tapedeck, put in rec-listen mode and set rec level to the amount you need
BJ
The phono preamp would boost the level, but you might have to fiddle with the output on the 707 to avoid distortion. If I remember right, a turntable doesn't put out a really loud signal (hence the preamp, I guess), so the 707 might overwhelm it a little unless you turn it down. I would guess it works, but it might require some tweaking once it's set up.
Cheese
i dont think the phono preamp would work, the cartrage on a turntable gives a different signal i belioeve, and the preamp also gives RIAA equalkisation (less teble and more bass, or possibly the other way around)

A phono preamp #1) has way too much gain, especially since you'll only be wanting to increase levels a few dB I'd expect, and #2) how RIAA or EBU equalisation, meaning you would end up with severe colouration and distortion in the signal. jadeclaw
Using a Phono-Amp or the phono input of a home system is useless. What is needed is something like this: http://mac-pro.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?...ategory_Code=PO Or this: http://www.goelectronic.com/Merchant2/merc...=5+MOBILE+VIDEO or if you can use a soldering iron, this one: http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/audioboost.html If you build this one, remember to increase R6 to 2.7 kOhms.
