Guest Anonymous
How easy is it to use sony's burning software that comes with their new Net MD players? Is it anything like Nero where you drag and drop things and just hit burn?
Guest Anonymous
Also, how do you erase a minidisc?
tmeg
Also, how do you erase a minidisc? The app SimpleBurner (highly recommended) just copies a CD or a "virtual CD" (mounted CD image) to the MiniDisc. Because OpenMG makes a lot of trouble for many people, a lot of people, me included, use a virtual CD image and copy this to MD. So you have to "burn" a CD and then copy this to the MD. The "burning" of the virtual CD is automated by the app m3u2sb, so you just drag+drop all mp3 files to this app, hit "make image" and then "mount", then start SimpleBurner and copy the songs. Its of course more work than with a HDD-MP3 player, because of these extra steps, which require a little time. But if you buy or download one or two albums a week it is no problem to wait like perhaps 15 min. For a CD to copy. Also be aware that you can not copy the songs back to the PC. Deleting a MD a song is very easy, you just select the command at the player menu or use the mentioned software.
Guest Anonymous
What about all this LP2 stuff? How many songs can you put on an MD using LP2 and is the quality better or worse than mp3? Are all MDs the same or do you have to buy Sony ones to use LP2?
tmeg
What about all this LP2 stuff? How many songs can you put on an MD using LP2 and is the quality better or worse than mp3? Are all MDs the same or do you have to buy Sony ones to use LP2?Long play recordings (LP2/LP4) play on all "MDLP" compatible players. There are two types of discs available: 74 and 80 minute discs. All brands are the same and make beside the design no difference. With LP2 you get 160, with LP4 320 minutes of music. LP2 sounds very good, nearly like CD, LP4 sounds much worse, it is recommended for speech or when you dont listen carefully perhaps in the car. Remember that MD is a kind of HiFi equipment, it was developed without the PC in mind. You can record from CD player and radio etc. PC recording is just a new thing and not as comfortable like with a true PC gadget. So if you normally just use the PC for listening and storing music, MD might not be optimal, but its of course still better than a CD walkmen or a tape. tmeg
just want to ask, can i erase a track directly from the md without using the pc?Yes, but only if you use SimpleBurner and not SonicStage or OpenMG. Another reason to stick to this solution
