Guest Anonymous
I apologize if this is a stupid question: I have a motorcycle with a tank bag that has magnets onthe bottom so as to hold it in place on the motorcycle gas tank. If I put my Sony MD in the bag, will the magnets affect the mini-disk (erase it, etc) ralph
KJ_Palmer
No, they should be safe (from the magnetism). Magneto-optical recording can only take place at the Curie point (180 degrees C) directed at specific spots on the disk. At lower temperatures the data is completely unaffected by magnetism. RISKBREAKER
Yep, there should be no problem, like Kj said, to change the magnetic information on the disk you need to heat it up (the recorder does that with the laser). So no data should be lost on you MD. But the magnetic field could probably disturb the "microchips" (ics), if the circuit board in the md unit is not good shielded. Hope that could help.
