 hi ,everyone here.there are too many new hd mp3 come to us recently.such like the creative zen 60G,and ipod 30G,although they still have a lot of disadvantages, but it seems that more and more people get the idear that hd mp3 will finally take MD's place.

i donnot so agree with that ,could any one talk about ur idear?

Whilst it is true that alot of money and energy is invested in the HDD player craze, it doesn't mean us Minidisc users have to fret.

The Minidisc format has been around for more than a decade now. Advancing slowly, but coming along quite well. It's up to Sony if they wish to delve more $ into the Minidisc format to compete with HDD.

Alot of new models came out this year, so it's only a matter of time. I guess. *shrug*

Sony is confusing. tongue.gif

Well,

If sound quality matters to you then MD would be better compared to MP3. MD's record at 5 times compression while MP3 system records at 12 times compression. The less the compression ratio, the better for sound quality. MD also uses ATRAC compression scheme that is better at recreating the parts of the sound that is thrown away during compression recording (according to ATRAC specs). Also MD deck has unlimited capacity in that you just keep using new discs when one is full. But with MP3 when you run out of recording space...what can you do? Need to offload what you have in the MP3 unit and delete to recover some usable space.

You'd probably get a pro-MiniDisc bent here and, for example, get a pro-iPod bent at the iPodLounge or iPoding forums...
