Hello!

Anyone got anymore info on this little problem?I only vaguely understand

what's not happening!

In diagnostic/test mode when I run the Overall adjustment mode (Assy Mode) I get the failure MO mode NG code 39 F9.

If I then try the auto adj mode in the servo mode for code 39 MO focus bias it just seems to display the Cluster value / AT error rate / block error

rate (whatever they are!) and won't auto adjust.(ie not the display it shows for other parameters where it flashes the value until it is correctly

adjusted and then remains on steady).

If you try to play a minidisc it just spins up and cannot identify any

tracks.

Is this unit recoverable or should it be thrown?

I'm assuming that the laser / lens circuitry is to blame for this and not

one of the motors? (there is the sound of a motor trying to overrun

occasionally, but I was putting that down to the machine trying to find the

start of the disc! There's also a constant clicking every second or so

which I am assuming is the lens assy trying to focus from one end of it's

travel to the other and then dropping back to try again??).

Is there a component I could/should try to replace before I just throw it

away?

Cheers

Bob
