patrickklenny
Hi all. I have browsed this site, and keep hearing that sharp is the best in terms of recording. I need something that records well (recording lectures, jazz shows) but also, I want to be able to go jogging with it (possibly five miles). I also want to be able to make md's with mp3's and other stuff over the internet and with my current cd's. In other words, I want to be able to listen to other music while on the train and walking around the city. I know that this sounds a lot, and even worse, I only want to spend up to 200 bucks, preferrably less (student). FinaLLY, does anyone know if I would be able to accomplish this in NYC? Thanks alot for your time. Patrick
Christopher
Well, there is a plethora of models that fit your criteria. The most important question is, do you wish to have NetMD (ability to burn music to MD at possibly 32x +)? Do you wish for the model to be Sony or something else? What color do you fancy? Answer these questions and I can find you a good model. k
patrickklenny
First, thank you so much for your quick reply, your expertise, and your help--you are awesome. I keep seeing your name everywhere on this forum, and I think it is awesome you are helping everyone out. Second, I don't care what brand it is, I guess a color that is somewhat basic. Third, I wanted to ask you something. Is the Netmd the only way to download mp3s to the MD player quickly? I keep reading posts that say that it is, and if so, I probably want it. However, it is not of the utmost importance if quality, recording, durability, and the running thing is sacrificed because the if I can still put mp3s to the md, it won't really matter if it is just in realtime. I keep reading the sony MZN 707 is the way to go with running, but also, it seems that it is somewhat counter intuitive. Please give me your input. Thanks alot Kurisu
Christopher
NetMD is the only quick way to download music to Minidiscs with a portable recorder. There are other methods to quickly transfer music to MD, but then we'd be talking about deck systems and stuff. I somewhat like the MZ-N707. Two of my friends have one, and I've had a chance to use the NetMD interface and mess around with the actual unit. It's nice, but remember that NetMD SP is nothing more than ghost LP2. If you want to make perfect SP recordings, be sure to pick up a toslink. Of course, then there's Sharp. I wouldn't mind a Sharp recorder myself, such as a DR-7. I don't like NetMD at all, so I'll probably never purchase a NetMD recorder. Real-time is fine for me. later k
BJ
I very much like my 707. For me, the net MD option is nice to have around, even if it's just for titling discs on the computer keyboard. The 707 is tough, nice looking and full of options. Once you perform the hack detailed elsewhere on these forums, you can adjust the treble/bass settings to make it sound a little brighter. If you have the option, I'd say grab a 707.
Guest Anonymous
I thought you could adjust treble/bass on a 707 without the hack.. k
