i just got an Mz-n10 a few days ago, i've recorded about 3 disk using my pc. but now my pc doesnt see the player when i plug the usb in. It looks as though when i plug in the usb cable the player screen just displays 0:00 , but when i unplug the usb it starts flashing PC>>MD. I've tried re-installing all programs and drivers many times, i've tried it on 3 diffrent computers and the same thing happens with all of them. I'm Using XP and i know for sure the usb plug works, because it works with other devices. Does any one know if there is a tiny "factory reset" button, kinda like on a cell phone, where you need a Pin to push it? any Info would be much appreciated.

dunno, But i gave it to a sony technitian and he said there was something wrong with the hardware. Therefore bring it back to your retailers or the closest Sony Repair Centre.

I got the same problem,too

My unit is N10 Japanese version, and I am using XP Pro

Some in this forum told me maybe unplug the bulit in battery would solve the problem, but I don't want to risk breaking the warranty by unplugging the battery first, when the service center in China could not fix it, I would seriously considering unplugging the bulit in battery as he told

USB can be flaky on many computers. You should install your MZ-N10 Drivers before you plug in the USB to the unit or docking station.

Now that you already have Net MD installed, go the the system tools area and open the device driver. Look down the list to the USB area and delete the Net MD driver.

Unplug the USB cable from the docking station. Reinstall NetMD drivers. Then plug in the USB cable. Then put the N10 in the cradle. It should take a little while but the computer should indicate that it has detected a USB device (mine makes a little chiming noise every time I plug the N10 into the cradle).

One other thing could cause trouble. Are you using an external USB hub instead of a direct out of your computer? If so, and you are using the internal USB to power the unit, it may not have enough power to operate the USB for N10. That could happen if you had a bunch of other devices plugged into the hub. The hub should have come with a power supply, so try plugging it in.

Hope this helps.

The problem occured in the middle of a song transferring from PC to my N10 when an error suddenly displayed on the panel. after that, my N10 could not connect PC. When I unplug the USB cord, PC-MD sign would flash. and the PC displays " USB Device Not Recognized"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sonic Stage 1.5 and NetMD driver several times, I even reinstall my Win XP Pro only to find it did not help.

My USB cord plug directly into the PC, and I am sure my USB is working properly, for it works well with other USB device.

I am going sending my N10 back to Japan, hoping they can give my a new unit instead of repairing it in Sony Service Center.

And I sent mine back to Japan... A friend of mine took it back to the store I bought the MD and they changed "IC" Chip. Don't know what it exactly does and now it works fine. By the way if you dont have warranty in America and if you are comtemplating if you should get it fixed here, I would recommend sending it back to the country u have the warranty in because it would cost you a fixed amount of 100 bucks or something. Good luck all!
