G'day all,

I just got into MD recording and I do live recordings of lectures and streetscape. I'd like to transfer these recordings into .WAV format so I can record them to a CD. Since I'm a complete newbie to this, please direct me as to how I can do this. I own a Sony MZ-N707 walkman.

I'd still like to know what I would need to physically connect my MD with the computer though. Is it as easy as plugging a cable from the headphone jack of my MD and plugging the other end of the cable to my sound card?

Thanks,

You have the right idea, Heaphone out from MD into Line In of PC sound card, start PC recording software and press play on MD. A digital sound card will produce better results. Ensure the MD output mode is set to Line Out mode if its switchable (as opposed to headphone mode). There is also a new accessory named Xitel MD IO Port that may be useful, do a search within this site for it.
