 Hi, I know what a group IS, but can I make a group AFTER I've recorded songs onto my disc. ie. like a fool, I've recorded 2 albums on and MD at LP2, and now I've thought "Hmmm wouldn't it be nice to have each album in its own group."

I've recorded about 20 MD's in this way, so obviously, I don't want to spend ages copying them all again.

I'd be really grateful for a shortcut.

SO, can I put the tracks into groups now, or is it too late?

Can I for eg just click group on at track one, and group off at track 13. THen group on at track 14 and group off at say track 23? Kind of like track marking?

Most grateful for your advice

Philip

Erm ... even though I posted this request ... I just found this message by chance, buried way deep in some other non-related thread.

"The group function is used to take tracks and group them. To elaborate, let's say I have a minidisc with 3 full cd's on it, one cd being John Coltrane (tracks 1-8 ), one being Cannonball Adderly (tracks 9-20), and the third being Charlie Parker (21-40.) I'm going to make each CD an individual group by telling the MD unit the first and the last track of a group. If the group function is turned on, only one group at a time will be available for playback, meaning if I am listening to "Confirmation" and I turn on group functions, it will appear as if the only music on the minidisc is the Charlie Parker cd (track 21 on the MD suddenly becomes track one within the group, and so on.)

The only way group function can help you get around the disc is when the group function is off, if you push the group button, the forward and backward buttons jump not from track to track but from the first track of a group to the first track of another group. So jazzman, if in your example you were listening to my minidisc I described above, you could use the group function's group jumping ability to go from track 5 to track 9 to track 21, and then manually to track 39. That'd save you jumping from track 5 to 21 by indiviudual track advancements, although the benefits of jumping around like this highly depends on how you have your groups set up. You could group every 10 songs or so, and that'd make things faster. All newer Sony players have group function, including the MZ-N10. I have no idea how the jog dial on the N10 works, try private messaging Leland, I bet he can help you out."
