Jon
I have an MZ-N10, and sometimes when I push play (to turn it on and start playing) I hear a zipping noise. Kind of like a DJ on a turn table, and then it finds where it left off and starts playing normal. Could this be because my lense isnt clean? Also, on my MZ-N10 when I turn it on the remote starts out bright for 2 seconds, then dims a bit and stays that brightness. Is this normal? Guest Anonymous
I don't know how your particular minidisc player model handles resuming, but I presume the ZIP sound is because there is some audio data buffered but it is not a complete frame, so it plays back as gibberish. Not a problem, I think. And the brightness of the display is probably because there's some sort of intelligent current control in the display to keep it at a certain brightness no matter the state of the battery, and the excessive brightness at initualization is probably from the circuit not reacting for a second or two. Again, not something I would worry about.
EBEdwards
To clarify about the "zip": it's in the headphones, not coming from the actual body of the player, right? For good or ill, I just tested it and got the exact same results (zip and backlight - backlight set to "on" not "auto" ... didn't test "auto").
