Guest Anonymous
can anyone explain what the difference between line out and headphones out is as far as transferring stuff from MD to PC is concerned? for example, the N707 and some of the new models like the MZ-NF810 only have headphones out, is it still OK to use this as line out? I know some people have hacked the N707 and enabled the LINE OUT selection, but is there any other way to achieve the same result? it seems that recording from headphones out is actually recording an amplified sound, since it has been processed through the headphone preamp...am I right? BJ
I belive you are right, and I'd say line out is cleaner. A close approximation to line out would be to flatten out the bass & treble settings and crank the volume all the way up. If you have the 707, though, do the hack. I love the 'line out' option (I usually listen in my car through the auxiliary jack in my head unit).
Guest Anonymous
strange... i did the hack on my 707...and my results were opposite sounding with line out switched ON...the sound out of the unit (thru the headphone jack) seemed much louder...not sure on clearer....but i have not done tests... with the hacked 707 on headphones as audio source...the sound sounded quieter.... hmmm
