Guest Anonymous
okay if you can help with that maybe someone can tell me why i don't want to use auto-set recording levels with the sony n1. the manual mode easily adjusts on the fly with the jog wheel, but it'd be easier If i get decent quality from the auto mode. if I patch into the soundboard would auto rec level work? thanks again BCJ
sonofabass
Mini Disc Recorder - $99 ECM719- $89 Headphone Volume control - $5.99 16 hours in line for a good spot (food, liquour and other things to entertain one's self) - $40 sneaking the recording gear into one of the best shows EVER and getting an AWESOME recording - priceless! so dig- I won't give the "details" of how I got it in but I will say that I clipped the mic to my necklace and put that into my shirt and I didn't talk and yell and all that stuff focusing more on getting a good recording. I used a headphone volume control from Radio Shack and used that to control the record level although I didn't have to touch the thing at all. I brought 2 discs - 1 in the player and 1 in my wallet (no sitting). Once I got in I found the bath room, got my gear situated and just went for it. Fresh battery lasted all night. I disc change in LP2 recording mode. Zero Overload
Guest Anonymous
For loud live music you'll definitely want to use the low-sensitivity option, or (as above) use headphone volume control with hi-sensitivity. I think the 719 is directional, so make sure you stay pointed at the sound source--twirl around and you'll regret it. If you patch into soundboard use Line In or you'll probably overload. Don't know if AGC works with line in on your model--check the manual. Best way to do it is to do a test first. If you have access to the soundboard, do you also have access to a sound check, where you could plug in headphones and monitor what's coming through the MD? Or do it during the opening act.
