Guest Anonymous
So, as you can see by the subject...I'm in the right forum. 8) I've been surfing around for MD players since like..gr.7 (I'm going to gr.10 now) and since NetMD has come out, these players have seemed SO MUCH more inviting and I can't wait until Christmas... Here are my requirements: - small so I can listen at school, and not get caught (thats a given with MD, am I right?) - REALLY REALLY durable (maybe the MZ-S1? I skateboard and I'm also very accident prone) - ability to record live (I've started a small band and we've written a few, well, cruddy songs, but I like them and maybe I'll want to record a demo one day far away and as far as I know, MD is pretty good at recording right?) - Under $300 Canadian (otherwise, if i do ask for one for Christmas, I'll have to pay half) That's about it, I guess I would LIKE for it to play bass well and not skip. Yeah, I'd really appreciate ALL advice Thanks a bunch -amie-
Guest Anonymous
Oh yeah!! I forgot 2 questions 1. By Christmas of this year, do you think there will be NEW MD player/recorders? 2. Is recording mp3's to MD as hard as people make it sound...cuz sometimes the simplicity draws me to mp3 players. Of course, then the long run price brings me back to minidisc thanks again lol -amie-
BJ
The S1 doesn't have microphone input. How about the MZ-N707 (I've had terrific luck with mine) or the MZ-N910? The 707 is cheaper, with fewer features, but should do everything you need it to, and it's pretty rugged. The 910 has a number of slick extra features, and it's got a completely aluminum body (the 707 just has an aluminum face; the back is plastic). Both units can survive a few scrapes and drops. I don't think we'll see any new Net MD portables until next spring, but that's just a semi-educated guess. Recording MP3->MD isn't bad, it's just not as quick as a straight transfer to a normal MP3 player.
