ive been reading up to try and avoid double post, but i still do have a question or two.

1) first, ive gathered that since there is only a line in, not mic in, that i need a powered mic of some sort; ive also figured out that i dont just need a battery box, i need a mic preamp. if im wrong on any of this, please let me know. now, KJ_Palmer posted a link a while back about the Archos stereo mic (w/ preamp) http://minidisc.amulation.com/part_Microph...ne_Preamps.html

any info on this? this is the cheapest preamp ive come across, and it comes with a mic to boot, so im mainly asking about quality issues

2) my second, and final, question is about the type of recording im doing. im recording live music, live LOUD music (mostly indie rock). if its decently loud, esp in a small venue, would a simple batt box work?
