Guest Anonymous
So, I picked up this mic hoping to record band rehearsals. Tried using the powered mic in and the line and and was rewarded with distortion. I have not had the opportunity (nor will before the day comes to return it) for concert recording. The mic does not work for my primary purpose but, will it be useful for recording concerts? Or, will I get the same distortion problems? Should I just return this thing and check out other options? What about the ECM 907? Would this work for a band rehearsal situation? Any advice is gretly appreciated. Thanks!
KJ_Palmer
If your band is very loud, you probably need a battery box from Sound Professionals or suchlike to avoid distortion. I use the ECM907 microphone for recording classical orchestral music, and it works very well without a battery box, but then the volume is of course much lower than rock music. Guest Anonymous
The distortion could be caused by clipping, check your recording levels. If they are too high, hit pause while you are recording and lower the recording level until you don't get anymore clipping.
