future love
Hello, Good points of the 'net-MD' are: > hight speed transfert (64Xspeed or 32Xspeed in lp4) > 'Sonic-stage' easy to install > you can easily title your musics > you can do your own groups on a MD, with a unit compatible with the 'group function' > with the 'net-MD recorder', you can't lost your music in ATRAC3: it's a memory of all your music in 'Sonic-stage' Bad points are: > the restrictions of the 'net-MD' like MD-->PC which is impossible > it's better to have a PC (but the 'net-MD' also works on a Mac with 'virtual-PC') > sometimes the computer doens't recognize the MD :x ... Bye.
Guest Anonymous
Bad points of NetMD: 1) Terrible software - unstable, temperamental, stupid checkout restrictions, no real choice thanks to Sony's tight-fisted control of the protocol. You may find that your PC just doesn't want to know about the NetMD unit. There are only a few s/w packages (SonicStage - slow, over-engineered and restrictive), RealOne (you need to maintain a library of MP3s & OMG files so get a big disk!) and SimpleBurner (the most effective way of CD->MD but don't expect any whistles and bells). 2) Misleading download speeds if you are thinking of CD->PC->MD or MP3->MD since you have to convert to ATRAC3 format first which takes a while. 3) The concept is somewhat flawed since you are not really dealing with MP3s - how often do you see ATRAC3 files in the computing domian? Good points of NetMD: 1) Download speeds are still faster than real-time recording. 1) erm... it sounds like a good idea until you actually part with the money and realise its severe limitations. Before I get flamed, yes I do have a NetMD unit (710) - I rushed out and got one the day they came out. Good idea, ruined by poor software. Guest Anonymous
Call me crazy, but I swear people claim that optical recordings done in LP2 or LP4 sound better than NetMD ones. Another bad point about NetMD is that you can't use it to record to genuine SP.
Guest Anonymous
i heard from many people also about recording over from optical in LP2 and LP4 mode sound quality better than transfer by netmd .. do they have optical output in netmd units ? i heard that they was a hack about MD-->PC .. true ? (or still has some problems about sony's API ?) last, i broke the LCD on my MZR-900 .. just keep it like that or fix it or just wait and buy new one in the next few year ? maybe, the last choice is execellent .. Guest Anonymous
I like my n707 alot, but since I do not do any live recording, and most of my music is on my computer in mp3 or wma format, I am taking a very serious look at the usb mp3 players. I use my md mostly for working out, walking to work, and odd jobs around the house so I need a mp3 player that I can get songs on and off of easily. The MD allows me to get the songs off easy enough, but the tricks, and voodoo needed to record the songs on an md have become to time consuming. Drag and Drop, that is where I am headed. I will keep my player for listening to books that are on cd, and transfer them to md, but I will probably use whatever usb/mp3 player as my new everyday player. I am currently looking at purchasing the Samsung yp-55v.
