Well i just bought a sony MZNF810CK, i really like it. Well except the software. Ill have to try the nero way tomorow when im saner and less tired...

ANyway my main beef is why cant the just use mp3 format? You can get portable and car cd players that you just burn the mp3s onto a disc and voila hours of enjoyment. ( ishould know i had a sony mp3 car cd player until my faceplate got stolen). That would make life with the netMD 1000% better and no steep learning curve with crap ass software. How much data does a MD actual hold? 350mb? and im sure they can make it more if thats the case these things would fly off the shelf escpecially at their price compared to an iPod.

What really pisses me off is that one of the major reasons why i decided on it was so i can record my school lectures and d/l them to my computer. Well Well apparently sony doesnt allow for that to happen!!!!

im going to try it out for a few days and see if its worth keeping. If not im going to get a Archos Jukebox or a iRiver.

Symapthy welcomed

You should have checked out the specs before hand - nowhere on Sonys documentation does it say that it allows upload of audio from MD to the PC.

Caveat Emptor, that sort of thing.

Yes, it would be nice for MD to directly accept MP3s, but Sony have invested a huge amount of time and effort into Atrac development, which is what MD has ALWAYS been based on (Atrac is older than MP3, at least at the consumer level).

MDs are about 150-160 meg per disc.

MD is generally a more flexible and portable solution than any HD based player, but it depends on what you are wanting.

Actually dude, the packaging for the MZ-N707 Sony minidisc says "New!!! High speed transfers" And shows a picture of a computer and a MD player and the is a cable connecting them. Nowhere on the package does SONY ever explain that you CAN NOT transfer digital content to the PC.

Thats intentional misrepresentation if you ask me.
