My Sony MZ-R500 was playing but not recording. When attempting to record onto a previously recorded MD, it would erase the entire contents. When trying to record to a blank MD, it would go through the entire process, but when trying to play it back, dead silence. After ejecting the disc and putting it back it, it would display 'BLANK'!!! Anyway, I entered test mode trying to reset, probably messed up some settings, and it got stuck in test mode. sad.gif After that I had notice that the 2pin ribbon cable connecting to the "head" was disconnected. So I soldered it back onto the board. This was probably my recording problem, since only one lead was connected.

I searched and found the reset instructions, however, the MD playback and MD record auto adjustments fail with a code 034 224 NG. I try and try and it still fails.

Does ANYBODY have a MZ-R500 that works that is willing to enter test mode and tell me ALL their settings? This is the only thing I can think off.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I'm allready thinking about buying an N10, but if I can get my R500 to work again it would be great since it fullfilled my needs...

I searched all day. Eventually, after searching for 'r500 eeprom settings' I found this:

http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=1474

I copied them exactly.

My MZ-R500 works now!!! At least back to it's normal state. It's not recording anymore. Goes through the functions, says 'SAVING' but when done and after ejecting the MD, I put it back in and it says blank.

Anybody know a fix for THAT???
