4_everyman
Hi. I hope you folks can help me. I need to record a daily three-hour radio broadcast when i'm not around to start/stop the recording. I'm looking for a home MD recorder that will record in LP4 mode *AND* has a three-position TIMER switch on the front panel (Rec-Off-Play). I'm not looking for any "exotic" features beyond what i've asked for. Does anyone make such a thing anymore that i can get here in the US? I suppose it doesn't have to be a home deck, but i don't know if any of the portable recorders provide the timer switch feature. Any help would be appreciated. Rgds, --Pete
Guest Anonymous
I just got one of these from buy.com for $109and change (they raised their prices to $129). But it will do timer record with LP/LP2/LP4 and is designed for US electrics out of the box and is pretty slick for the price. It does not come with speakers. It's 25 watts a channel at 4ohms. So if you have speakers laying around it's a bargain. hope this helps. Oh it's a CD/FM/MD and does CD-text and 2x CD->MD b
Guest Anonymous
I don't know if the US has the same product codes for these decks, but you could try either the MDSJB 980B/s (s = silver I think) ... or the slightly cheaper version called MDSJB 780B/s (try this link to Sony UK http://products.sony.co.uk/thumbnails.asp?id=7_25_ ). I bought the non Net MD version of these decks and find it to be of outstanding quality. I did regret not getting one with a timer though, and it still kinda peeves me from time to time, as I too love to record from the radio). I'm afraid that both of those 2 decks come with the "fancy stuff". The 980 even comes with 2 optical inputs and the much coveted optical output too! Over here they're about £200 (+ or - £10 on either side). Hope this helps. Philip
doclloyd
http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLand...058,660,00.html Sharp SD-SG11. Nice little system. I think it's the one the "Guest" was trying to refer to, but failed to actually list the system he was talking about. Can be had @ minidisco.com as well. It's a nice system. I just got one this week. haven't tried all the features yet, but it does have a timer play/record function which you can set. I think you may have to set it each day, however. But with a 3-hour recording, you'd have to put in a new MD anyway.
Guest Anonymous
I guess I thought that the model number was in the subject header. Yes the SD-SG11 is whatt I was refering to. I've got mine hooked up to a pair of JBL J2060s and it sounds fantastic... b
