Guest Anonymous
Hi, having a problem with my minidisc and I hope someone can help. When I record from the mic input and am running on battery power (fully charged), I get a sort of mechanical whirring sound every few seconds in my recordings. This coincides with the disc motor activity, but it is not being picked up through the microphone. In fact, I can turn the switch on the mic off and record dead air, and when I play it back I'll get the whirring noise recorded so I'm sure it is being picked up internally somehow. If I plug the unit into the power adapter, I don't get this whirring motor noise, but there is a very faint, high pitched sound at regular intervals mixed in with my recordings. (about every 3-5 seconds). This isn't as bad as the motor sound, but is still annoying on quiet passages. If I record into the line input, I have no problems whatsoever. It only appears to be related to the mic input. Anybody experienced something similar? I purchased this unit second hand to make some recordings of solo acoustic guitar. This whirring noise renders the unit useless for that, unless I go with an external preamp and use the line input.
Guest Anonymous
Motor noise is an issue with many MiniDisc recorders, unfortunately. Your solution is about the best that can be hoped for.
