Guest rebob
Performers, soloist and groups, began to use minidisc so that they could perform to tracks and get away from the problems with cassette tape. One of the best features on the early units was the Auto Pause mode which automatically put the unit in pause after a track finished. The performer(s) could then introduce the next song, select a new track or just press play, manually or with the remote, to start the next song playing. This feature should be included as a Play Mode on every minidisc player, CD player and MP3 player including portable units. The play modes would be: 1) Play entire minidisc (CD, etc) and stop 2) Play one track and stop 3) Play entire minidisc and repeat 4) Play one track and repeat 5) Shuffle the tracks and play the entire minidisc and stop. 6) Shuffle the tracks and play the entire minidisc and repeat. The Auto Space feature, which places an n second pause between tracks is a separate function. This is useful when going from minidisc to tape. When activated, it would apply to any Play Mode which plays multiple tracks. The play mode should stay set when powered down. Performers would set their unit to Play Mode 2 and leave it. These play modes are inexpensive electronically and broaden the market for these units for increased sales What do you think?
KJ_Palmer
The better decks (eg. JB980) have these features. Can't say I ever use it, though I'm sure it might be nice for some people as you say. Bit too niche-y for the average portable user I'd say. JayX
whilst i personally have no need for it myself, its not as if adding this feature to most decks would cost anything, so why not. i'm sure a lot of people will find a use for it at least once in their lifetime, whilst others would find it a godsend. i can see using it on stage would make life easier (as the bands im in in the future might rely on MD recorded beats due to a lack of good drummers in my area, so i guess i'd have to record a track of silence afterwards in order to avoid hitting the next track)
Guest Anonymous
as long as it does not up the cost of the unit, why not, there are times (rare times) when i would like to have such a feature.
Guest Anonymous
I don't require it, but it wouldn't kill anyone to have it so why not?
