xfishx
I was thinking of purchasing a Sharp DR410 which only has a line in. I have a pair of CSB clones with a battery box, will this be ok for live recording or do I need a model with a mic in? Thanks
Guest Anonymous
probably not--unless you are always recording high volume concerts and such, where some have had okay luck recording with line in, (not me, btw, but some claim to have success) It is unfortunate you don't have a preamp, and there really aren't any great cheap ones I know of (there may be some) It is almost cheaper to ebay a used sharp MD than to buy a preamp of comparable quality. I have a used Mt-80 I picked up for $80. the only preamp I've heard that sounded as good was from MInidisco for $200. There are some realatively inexpensive project plans out there, 95% of the cost of audio gear is not materials but rather R&D, marketing and packaging. If you are handy with a soldering iron and electronics, you can get away with less money. Good luck
