Greetings all.

I am quite bleak with my Net MD it is a Sony Mz-N505. It wont record and erases disks unless I put in a disk that has the write protection enabled.

I put it under the airport's xray because it was in my pockets and the airport people asked me to have it examined. I dont think that is what caused the error. I dont know is it possible that the recording head conked out. Is it dirty ?

I am quite perturbed because i bought my MZ-n505 in january 2003.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make it work ? Does anyone have a service manual I am quite handy with gadgets provided I have the right blueprints.

Thanks

I recently "repaired" a NetMD (N1) which did not record any more and said all discs are write protected. I added a little tape at the metallic frame, at a point where a small "tip" is, which detects if a disc is write protected. Now the player thinks that all discs are write-enabled and it works again. In this case I think the player was a little pressed so the mechanics is a little bit of its normal position.

If I do that then It will erase the disk. You see when it is connected to the computer it "pretends" to record something. When I try playback ... there is no sound. If I disconnect from the pc then it erases the disk and calls it blank. The same happens when I do line in recording. It "pretends" but on playback there is nothing. I am already considering the IPod sony disappointed me here.

I tried playing a friends disk in my machine and it played but when I stopped it ... the disk had been erased. I think there is a software problem that is internal. I am not too sure perhaps the memory is corrupted or something. There is a "Guest something or another" his post is just below mine. He has exactly the same problem.
