Guest Anonymous
My DAT-player has more or less said goodbye, and I´m thinking of going the minidisc-route. However, I keep hearing about noisey pre-amps. I´ve put my eyes on the Sharp IMDR-420, which has mic-in. How much noise does the amp itself produce? I will be using it with a Sony ECM-MS957 stereo mic. Will there be much noise when recording for instance quiet sounds? Or with quiet recordings in general? Please let me know... Guest Anonymous
I just purchased a Sharp DR-480 and an Audio Technica 822 stereo mic to record ambient natural sounds. There is some high frequency noise which probably comes from the pre-amp in the recorder (probably the same in the 420). It's not too bad but it would be nice if there were some way to reduce it. Guest Anonymous
If the problem is with the mic preamp, you could get a battery box and work through line-in. But first you might check out whether it's the mic itself. look at this page to download comparisons of various mics self-noise http://infos.0db.net/micros/compare/indexe.php3
