"Losing" time after optical transfer

Hi all,

So I've transferred several Thievery Corporation albums via USB/optical cable to my trusty MZ-R900. I just started using the MD as a walkman last week, so bear with me.

Transfer is great, but no track marks because I just found out about Wincue. I'll be installing that sucker tonight.

But...but...but... as I sit here manually adding track cues, I notice that every song is 5-6 seconds SHORTER than the allmusic and freedb track length listings! What's up? Do native CDs report lengths different than the 'raw data' of a MD, or are things somehow being slightly sped up during the recording???

I'm freaking out!

Specifying more...

The songs are all there and they SOUND fine, beginning, middle, end etc., they're not getting cut off... they're just 5-6 seconds shorter than the CD track times listed online. Weird, no?

That's not weird at all.

It is simple: The times reported in freedb and on allmusic.com includes the space between the tracks as well.

On some classic recordings, I've found that space taking up to 15 seconds - at that point, the JE500's smart space function cut's that down to three seconds...

So, as long as the pitch doesn't change, I wouldn't be worried at all...

Regards
