The only way to get from MD to CD is to make a realtime recording and then burn it. You can certainly do that with CoolEdit--MD headphone out to computer line in (or USB analog adaper), hit record, then do what you want with the .wav recordings--edit, etc.

If you have a NetMD recorder, it's simpler with WinNetMD, which records (in realtime) and uses NetMD and Microsoft's .net to transfer track marks and titles and gives you individual .wav files of each track. It's not free, but $15-$20 depending on Euro exchange rate.

Depending on what you have, and your budget, you can get a digital MD transfer happening - but at the moment it would still be real-time.

For a starters, you'd need a deck with a digital out and a PC with digital inputs, be that via USB or soundcard.
