Guest Anonymous
Back in November I found an MZ-R700 at the local Best Buy shrink-wrapped to a piece of cardboard and priced at $80 "open box" with MFG warranty. I snatched it up. I also bought a pack of Fujifilm 80 minute disks. I bought it to use for field recordings when hauling all my multitrack gear out is overkill. The first recording I made was of a church service and it recorded 80 minutes as one track no problems. Since then I have discovered that if the record level is such that the unit inserts track markers it will only record for 30 minutes and the stop with a disk error. I have tried multiple disks with the same results, including the disk I used for the first 80 minute recording. I figured there must be something wrong and sent the unit away for warranty service back in early January. I just got it back today and it says they replaced the PCB and LCD module and did a functional check. This was at Sony Service Center, Bristol PA. Well, I plugged it in today and started recording. It stopped after 30 minutes with a disk error. Since the thing just came back from warranty service I am not as confident that the unit has a problem but I am also a MiniDisc rookie. Do I try a different brand of disc? Not sure what to try next as far as troubleshooting goes.
Bad_Ad85
MZ-R700 does the same thing, but stops at 8:00. Doom and gloom to all! Sure, I can get a quick quote for a news story... But I shouldn't have to carry 3 MDs in case somebody gets long winded and I get 24 Mins of audio!*Shakes Fist*PS: I'm using Sony MDs...
