Guest Anonymous
Hi everyone First time on this forum. Anyhow onto my problem. I recently purchased a MZ-N505 and I can't seem to record (PC->MD). The problem I noticed has been mentioned before, but no one has answered. What happens is that it records up to 95%, then jams. I then can't turn it off or take out the cd, and am forced to take out the battery. I'm 99% posotive that the MZ-N505 works perfectly, as I have tested it at my friends house. Yet I can't record from my computer. I am using my friends program (I lost mine ), which was originally made for the MZ-N510. Could this be a problem? Also, I forgot to mention that after it fails to record, it gives me the message "failed to exchange encryption codes", or something of that nature (don't remember exactly). Sometimes it doesn't jam or freeze and instead just gives me the message "failed to record to cd or device". Any help would be greatly appreciated as well as suggestions. Thanks. Guest Anonymous
looks like you need to get a new driver.

Guest Anonymous
at 95%, the minidisc finishes saving the cached info on the minidisc, and begins to write to the TOC. well being a computer tech, i noticed that your minidisc only works at your friends house. you have a 505. what operating system do you have? if you have win98 (which it sounds like you do) you are in trouble. all OS's after 98 supports plug and play devices such as flash cards and mp3 players. minidisc drivers are different however. your friend, even tho he installed the 510 driver (and you used a 505), his OS (most likely 2000, me or xp) supports the plug and play thing, and the 510 model has a completely different hardware profile. since his computer supported the plugnplay thing, your minidisc worked. when you installed the software on YOUR computer, (being 98) and using a different model that the driver included has, win98 gets confused when it comes to writing to finishing the track, and writing to the TOC, because the 505 writes it differently. as for the driver, theres no way to get it. as far as i know, you will have to PURCHASE the cd from them (STUPIDEST THING I KNOW). if you dont have win98, then you have permission to laugh at me. Guest Anonymous
:S Surpringsly im the one with XP and he is the one with 98....although it could be ME I don't remember. I attempted to burn more songs and at least right now it finishes burning (transferring) like everything is fine. But when I turned on my MD, it was blank. No idea whats wrong, gonna try reinstalling. BTW my friend used the same software if im not mistaken.
