Guest Anonymous
I'm new here. I did a search but didn't find anything on this. I have a Sony MDS S707 deck that came with a shelf system. (it's a seperate component) I put in a disc, then tried to eject it, and it wouldn't eject, and made some nifty grinding sounds. (plastic gears) I opened it up, played around with the internals a bit, and got the disc out. I noticed a tiny piece of old styrofoam peanut wedged in the corner of the door mechanism (kids) and thought this may have been the problem, but it still does the same thing. It actually still plays! But only when I can keep the disc from ejecting on it's own. When I load or eject the disc, the plastic gears grind past the point where they should have already stopped.(I think) Also, the mechanicals move on their own in a steady pattern, (about 2 seconds apart) whenever it's plugged in. I called about repair, but was told it would cost me $60 just to have it sent to a place to look at it, then maybe another $100 or more to fix it! I'd love to fix it on my own, or find out where to send it that wouldn't charge me so much. Any ideas?
