Evening. Just a small thing but it's a bit weird so I thought I would mention it. I had an MD I recorded using OpenMg. It was useless old Dr.Dre stuff I never listened to so I deleted the MD via OpenMg - but I deleted it weird. I checked it in when I didn't even have the album anymore on my hard drive so it basically deleted all music from the MD. Then I decided to record Coldplay on that MD so I did so via OpenMg again. I was lying in bed nodding off listening to Coldplay that night and whatever song was on, I wanted to fast forward it a bit so I did so on my in line remote. Next thing all I heard was a real heavy bassy beat and Dre in fast forward saying something about getting high! I rewound the MD and played it through the whole song with no sign of any Dre, but when I fast forward a certain bit - boom - hardcore hip hop instead of Coldplay. Whats that all about? Anyone else ever come accross this before?

I think this can be attributed to the fact that when you 'delete' a track, the entry in the disc's Table of Contents is deleted, and the actual track is not actually removed until it is recorded over.

To fix this, check-in all of your NetMD tracks, and then proceed make sure that the disc is empty. Unplug all cables from your unit [AC, USB, any optical/analogue cables], and push the 'record' function. Allow it to record [silence] for a few seconds or so, and then proceed to stop recording. Afterwards, send your disc the 'Erase Disc' command, which should be buried within the unit's menu structure. This should fix that problem.

This thread over on T-Station deals with a user and his experience with 'ghost' recordings. In addition, take a look at this thread as well, where members discuss the structure of a MiniDisc, and what happens when files are 'deleted'.
