Bazirker
Hey guest #2, your mp3 tags won't transfer if you use dino's method...unless you use this wonderful program! http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=1815 It will make the whole process a lot easier once you're mastered dino's method, and you will get track titles. neo_md
Here's another CD/DVD burning/backup software. it's called alcohol 120%. you can download a decent trial version from http://www.alcohol-software.com/ It allows you to make backups of your CDs and DVDs. it recognizes nero's imagedrive and allows you to mount up to 31 virtual CDs. This program is also great for backing up your XBOX, PS2/PS1 and PC games. It can circumvent most copy-protection provided you know what copy protection technique is used on the particular CD (b/c of copyright issues it won't automatically recognise the copy protection format used on a cd. but you can research on the net to see what kind of copy protection is used on a particular CD). This program is also good for SP transfers because you can bypass the copy protection. Also when you are ready to burn your copy protected CDs you can have alcohol 120% burn the image as a normal CD rom , so any player can the backup with little or no problem @ all. I hope this helps anybody.
Bazirker
Hey renato, are you using m3u2sb? It's the only way to get track titles via Dino's Method with typing them up yourself. Once you get to the simple burner app, remove your md unit and then plug it back in. That fixes it for me.
tmeg
Hey renato, are you using m3u2sb? It's the only way to get track titles via Dino's Method with typing them up yourself. Not the only one :!: my "CD-Text for Simple Burner" (http://christian.klukas.bei.t-online.de/files/cdtext4sb/RealOpenMDhowto.htm) is the second option. But even me prefers m3u2sb :-) for complete albums you can also title afterwards with my app Win NMD, but this would not be free. chris

Guest Anonymous
I follow all the instructions and everything works but when I open Simpleburner it can't find the virtual drive which seems to be set at F: and the drop down menu only gives me the choice of my actual cd drive which is E:. Any ideas?

loserkid398
If anyone needs it, this site contains many versions of Nero. http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=nero
Guest Anonymous
Hi ta all, I've a little question With the NERO method I generate MD files that are "check-free"...meaning that I can plug my MD to someone else's computer and download the files? With the standard "check in/out" method this isn't possible. Also...I onece formatted my HardDisk, and when I tryed to fill it with all the stuff I backed up the MD files refused to work because the computer looked different to them! Dows the NERO method help in this too? THX

Guest Anonymous
Thank you loserkid398 for that link! I have Nero 6 OEM that came with my laptop, but ImageDrive won't work with an OEM license. I have to pay $50 to upgrade to the retail version :x And Nero's site has no links to old versions of Nero. bleh

Im able to create and mount the image successfully, but SImple Burner is not able to read the songs on the drive. It's able to read the drive itself, but then it says insert a CD. Ive mounted the image with Nero's ImageDrive and DaemonTools. Anyone know what the problem could be?
Kamau
Just got my NetMD today and am using Dino's method to transfer my mp3s. Works fine except for the fact that I have to go into safe mode to remove the created image after the transfer (running Win2K Pro). I have Alcohol 120% and RecordNow Max and will experiment creating images with those and will report back because I see that a few others have experienced this problem with Nero DriveImage. Would also like to use m3u2sb, but when I go to Paolose's site, I can't find it. Could someone please PM it to me! Thanks in advance!!! Guest Anonymous
I know a lot of users are having issues with NERO and some of the bundled CD's that came with burners don't even have ImageDrive on them which you need. Poloroid used to host a full version of NERO for download... but I guess so many people hit it they decided to take it down... sorry people, if someone has it and would like to host it please let me know so we can put the link back up here... ANYWAY I cannot remember if ImageDrive was a listed option when I installed that version, but it was there, after installing NERO search for the word "Image" and you will find "NeroImageDriveInst". This is the installation for ImageDrive. So now hopefully a few users will stop using OpenMG and just use the NERO - Simple Burner method that works the way things should work. IN CASE YOUR CLUELESS ABOUT THE STEPS FOR DINO'S METHOD 1.) Open NERO and create a new Audio CD. 2.) Click the new button on the right of the window. 3.) Click the button at the top of the screen (below the toolbar) that says Choose Recorder. 4.) Select the Image Recorder and click OK. 5.) Add the files (MP3, WAV, CDA, WMA, RA) you want to put on your MD. 6.) Click on Write CD under File on the toolbar. 7.) A window will open up, click the Write button. 8.) Another window will open, save the .nrg image file to the desktop, or where ever you wish, it is just easier to find it on the desktop later. 9.) Click Save and NERO will begin writing the .nrg file to your hard drive. This will take some time depending on how many tracks you added. 10.) Let Nero finish and exit Nero. 11.) Open Nero ImageDrive. 12.) Click the button with the ... and select the .nrg file you created, SEE WHY YOU SHOULD PUT IT ON YOUR DESKTOP?!? 13.) Click the Load button. If you have AutoInsert Notification turned on an Audio CD will play. This is what tricks Simple Burner into thinking that you put a CD into your computer to rip audio tracks from. 14.) Open Simple Burner and select the drive the Image was mounted to. You should know the routine from there. I havent figured out how to title the tracks in NERO and have those titles recognized by Simple Burner. There are programs out there that will title the tracks, but I haven't used any of them because its not that time consuming to title the tracks by hand in Simple Burner by selecting the track and hitting F2. SO, any questions?!?
Guest Anonymous
how do I delete the image after use? it says "in use" when I try to delete itAfter several tries - I was able to delete the image.nrg. The trick? You have to eject it from the virtual drive first. Then delete. Simple, but easily overlooked. Hope this helps. PS. Thanks for posting and reposting Dino's method. It's hella-fast! moffitt1
I have a bit of a problem with this method. Im able to create and mount the image successfully, but SImple Burner is not able to read the songs on the drive. It's able to read the drive itself, but then it says insert a CD. Ive mounted the image with Nero's ImageDrive and DaemonTools. Anyone know what the problem could be?The following instructions will solve the problem I have seen many posts about; Simple Burner has no file list in the right window. It sees that there is a drive, i.e. E:, but cannot read the disk and gives "PLEASE INSERT AN AUDIO CD" message. I fought this for quite a while. Below are the syeps I took to solve the problem. These instructions are from a link from Winamp troubleshooting pages. My Simple Burner now works!!! Hallelujah!! Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Multimedia. Click the Devices tab, double-click the Media Control Devices branch to expand it, click CD Audio Device (Media Control), and then click Properties. Click Remove, click Yes when you are prompted to remove the device, click OK, click OK, and then restart your computer. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add New Hardware. Click Next, click Next, click No, I want to select the hardware from a list, click Sound, video, and game controllers, and then click Next. In the Manufacturers box, click Microsoft MCI, in the Models box, click CD Audio Device (Media Control), click Next, click Finish, and then click Yes. I did not do the following, however. Don't know if it makes a difference. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System. Click the Device Manager tab, double-click the CDROM branch to expand it, and then click the CD-ROM drive. Click Properties, click the Settings tab, click to clear the DMA check box, click OK, and then click OK. I have been looking/asking for a solution for about 9 months now. Hope this saves someone else the hassel.
