Beamus
Whats the best electret mic capsules for a homemade mic? I'm looking for even frequency response, if possible, for live recording. I am using a mic I made from Radio Shack capsules now with pretty good results, though the recordings seem to lack some mids and are a little heavy towards the bass, though not boomy, even though I am using a battery box with bass rolloff caps. The mic shows pretty much the same frequency response whether I'm recording live, loud electric music, quiet guitar or even spoken word. I've heard good things about the Panasonic capsules...any other suggestions. Thanks!
A440
Most of the DIY-ers and entry-level mics from Soundprofessionals, etc. use Panasonic WM-60 AT or WM-61A. You can check them out here: http://dkc3.digikey.com/pdf/T041/1053.pdf For bigger mics--pinky-joint size as opposed to pencil-eraser size--Soundprofessionals names which Audio-Technica capsules they use in their listings.
