SoulWax
Hi I'm considering buying a NetMD enabled MiniDisc and wanted to know how long it takes to record an entire minidisc in LP2 and LP4 and if there is any way to record SP quality via Net MD Also if anyone is selling their NetMD, Pm me. On a low budget, so I don't care if it's messed up; it's all good as long as it records NetMD
actorlife
Hi SW! You can record NetMD in SP with Open MG or Real player via mp3's, WMA or Wav. With an 80 Min. Minidisc you can record: SP is 80 min. LP2 Mode is 160 min. LP4 Mode is 320 min. If you want a used minidisc try the marketplace/ buyer feedback section in this forum or www.ebay.com where i've gotten some great deals, also on the Minidisc T-Board, they also have a feedback area of some of the buyers and sellers there: http://www.minidisct.com/forum/forumdispla....php?forumid=13 Recommened Net MD's: Sony N707(Cheap & fantastic),Sharp IM-DR420(Cheap & fantastic), Sony N1 and Sony N10 If you don't have it already make sure to get a www.Paypal.com account where you have buyer protection for 30 days if item is not sent within three weeks you get your money back. Free! [MODERATOR EDIT: Paypal sucks. You are not always given money back if you do not recieve your item. Use extreme caution.] Good luck! BJ
I'd agree--Sony's N-707 is a great little unit. As for how fast you can record through the computer, Simple Burner (which will not allow you to record SP) takes care of an LP2 disc at 2x-4x normal speed. Not too shabby. Open MG will transfer MP3s a little faster, but converting them to Sony's ATRAC format adds a little time to the transfer. A four minute song takes about 40 seconds or so to transfer, on a good day. Right? Or am I blowing smoke?
Christopher
Depends on the computer, methinks, but those seem like valid assumptions. I haven't really messed around with NetMD too much, as 1:1 optical dubs have always been my flavor of choice. Btw, just to make sure you know, SonicStage 2 seems a bit faster with the whole encoding process. http://umsis.miami.edu/~nblack1/ss2/
