Can HI-MD upload recordings to PC from older MD discs?

In late summer 2002, I bought a Sony MZ N707, thinking that I could record lectures, and port them to MP3 format with a USB connection to my computer. Unfortunately, Sony never implemented a MD to PC upload.

Apparently you can record from MD to PC with some HI-MD models. This is what I'm looking for! I have about 2 dozen four hour minidisc original recordings that I would very much like to port onto my PC and convert into MP3 format (I tried to port them to PC with an analog cable, but the quality is awful).

Will the new HI-MD's be able to read my MD's from my MZ-N707 and upload the sound to my PC?

It appears that the Sony MZ-NH1 would be the cheapest model for uploading and microphone recording ... I hope this is available in the US in April. Does anybody know a cheap place in New York that would sell these?

Thanks! smile.gif
